Karim A. Hamir, B.A. (Hons.), J.D., M.B.A., is an accomplished legal and financial professional with over two decades of interdisciplinary experience spanning corporate law, banking, governance, and commercial strategy. Licensed to practice law in Washington State since 2003 and accredited through the Federation of Law Societies of Canada’s National Committee on Accreditation, Karim brings a strong cross-border perspective to his work, offering clients the advantage of his extensive background in both U.S. and Canadian legal systems.

He is currently focused on expanding his practice in the field of Corporate Law, providing pragmatic and strategic legal counsel to businesses, entrepreneurs, and institutions across a wide range of industries.

Karim earned his Juris Doctor from Western Michigan University’s Thomas M. Cooley Law School in 2003 and holds a Certificate of Qualification, the Canadian equivalency of a law degree, through the NCA. His legal education is complemented by a Master of Business Administration from the University of Phoenix, awarded in 2008, and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology from York University. To further strengthen his business and financial acumen, Karim has completed a suite of certifications including the Canadian Securities Course, Personal Financial Services Advice designation, and training in Personal Financial Planning (in progress), alongside RBC’s Commercial Financial Analyst Certification Program.

Professionally, Karim has built a formidable career at RBC Royal Bank of Canada, where he has served as a Commercial Account Manager since 2008 in one of the bank’s largest commercial banking centers in British Columbia. His work has focused on structuring complex credit transactions, negotiating business development strategies, and offering tailored financial solutions to clients. Over the years, he has received multiple awards including RBC’s President’s Circle, Gold Winner in Appetite for Advice, and consistent recognition as a top-performing referral partner. His achievements reflect both his financial acumen and his ability to build strong, trust-based client relationships.

Karim’s legal career is equally diverse. He has served as a faculty member at Meritus University, where he instructed courses in Canadian and U.S. Law, Corporate Governance, Global Management, and Business Organizations to both undergraduate and MBA students. He previously gained legal experience working with Chow and Company in Vancouver and Matto & Associates in Seattle, focusing on employment law, civil litigation, corporate and securities law, and criminal defense. His early legal foundation was laid through his role as a Rule 9 Prosecutor in the King County Prosecutor’s Office in Washington State, where he handled a range of criminal cases on behalf of the State.

In addition to his legal and banking careers, Karim has demonstrated a strong commitment to mediation and arbitration. He completed numerous courses in mediation, conflict resolution, and arbitration through the Justice Institute of British Columbia and the British Columbia Arbitration and Mediation Institute. This training allows him to incorporate alternative dispute resolution methods into his practice, offering clients efficient and effective ways to resolve complex disputes.
